GRAND RAPIDS — Director, writer, and actor Ben Stiller will produce “30 Minutes or Less” which is set to start in July and is expected to last through October. The West Michigan Film Office says this will be the biggest movie project shot in the area not just since Michigan’s tax incentives to attract movie production went into place, but the biggest ever. Production is expected to last until October.
Producers won’t say exactly how much they will spend, only that will be at least ten-million dollars. Producers have also booked five-thousand hotel rooms. The movie is rumored to feature actors Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Michael Pena, and Nick Swardson.
Grand Rapids, MI (Walker) welcomed the opening of Hangar 42 and 1,000 jobs in the worlds largest soundstage at 500,000 square feet. Raleigh Michigan Studios – the Pontiac studio financed by A. Alfred Taubman, Linden Nelson, John Rakolta Jr. and William Morris Endeavor – Ari Emanuel has arranged the $75.8 Million required to break ground in 30 days on ten soundstages to be ready for summer 2010 according to Steve Lemberg, CFO of RMS. Meanwhile Jimmy Lifton’s Unity Studios in Allen Park while delayed from its June groundbreaking continues toward the October opening of The Lifton Institute and the initiation of the bond issue needed to fund the land purchase. Wonderstruck Studios, which was formerly announced to take shape at the temporary MGM Grand facility may be considering another location.

Motown Motion Pictures Studios (Raleigh Michigan Studios) closed land purchase agreements and welcomed Governor Jennifer Granholm and members of President Obama’s Auto Industry Task Force to tour the facility. In the works is a major Sound Stage film production facility with educational training programs with a goal to employ 3,500 Michigan residents with expansion to 15,000 in coming years. A partnership between Nelson Ventures, The Taubman Group, and William Morris Endeavor’s Ari Emanuel. City of Allen Park officials announced a major movie studio deal Tuesday that will create a $146-million, full-service movie, television and new media production studio. Project is named Unity Studios. Unity Studios on Facebook
The factory will be built on 104 acres in Allen Park and include 750,000 square feet of production, post-production and production support services facilities with eight sound stages.
A Michigan State University study declares the Michigan Film Incentive is a Major Hit!
